Vietnam Veterans Day 18 August 2009
From Wobbly Bob
Cardwell
Rocket and Viv rode up from Townsville for Vietnam Vets day to take part in the service to be held here, I met them at the R.S.L at Cardwell at 10.15 where I caught up with Viv for a while as Rocket was still getting things ready for after the service. Then we rode up to the service which was to be conducted by Ray the Cardwell R.S.L. President. When we arrived there were about 20 Vietnam Vets from Townsville with a crowd all up around the 50 mark also with the media from Tully and Townsville.
A touching service was delivered by Ray including a tribute to the Kiwi's who were there attached to Aussie companys.
After the service all were invited back to the R.S.L. where all sat around and talked over a few beer's and food . Rocket , Viv, Sparra, Shorty, and Smokey the bear headed around the back to the bunker for a few more beers and to remember the price paid for by our troops over there, Let's hope we can increase the numbers here next year. Speical thanks to be given to Sparra for coming down Monday and fixing the wall in the bunker, and Shorty for mowing the lawn .
